About the site and your data
About this site
I’m Zac Rush, and I built this to make Secret Santa easier for me and my friends. Each organiser has their own games. They can invite people, manage the people in their group and start a draw, but the site never shows the organiser anyone’s match-ups.
Your details stay here
I’m basically the only person with full access to the information you submit, and I’m responsible for managing your data. Your name, email and gift hints are stored so the site can run your game. Private access links are stored as hashes, while match-ups and queued emails are encrypted. As the person running the server, I can access the stored information, but I simply dont care enough, so I won't. Your game’s organiser can see the names, email addresses and gift hints of people in their own game. Your assigned Santa can see your name and gift hints, but not your email address. You can update your own hints using the private link in your email.
The site collects your name, email address and any gift hints you give to run your game, confirm your email and send you a link to the person you are buying for. Your information will not be sold, used for marketing or used for anything outside running this site. The hosting and email providers process it only to operate the site and deliver its messages.
Hints, not shopping lists
Keep the three optional idea fields broad: “cigarettes”, “alcohol” or “drugs” work well. Don't give exact items or links to products. That way your Santa gets room to surprise you.
Want your data deleted?
Contact me on Instagram @z._rush or Snapchat @z.rush if you don't already have my socials :P. Let me know which game you joined and the email you used, so I can delete your data.
Data stays on the site until I or your organiser deletes the game, or I handle your deletion request. Removing data after a draw may affect the game, I’ll explain that when we arrange it. Deleting site data cannot retract emails already delivered or copies someone has kept. Routine hosting backups may keep copies of your data until they expire but no data is exposed publicly.
Keep your reveal link private
Anyone with your personal reveal link can view your match. Anyone with your private gift-hint link can edit your hints. Keep both links to yourself. Organisers can’t view match-ups through their dashboard. As the site operator, I manage the server and its encryption key; this is not a promise that matches are inaccessible to the server owner. https://www.namecheap.com
